Seventy Years, Countless Lives

In honour of Prof. Charles O. Omekwu

Saturday, 6 June 2026 at 12:00 PM Birthday 3 June 2026 De Castle Resort, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State
As I mark my 70th birthday, I find myself less interested in counting the years than in counting the people who have filled them. Many of you have walked with me through the lecture halls, the library, conferences, worship places, through tough times, joyful moments and the quiet work of mentoring, and that company has meant more to me than any title ever could. I would be grateful if you would leave a note, a photograph, or a short video here. Your words and your presence are the gifts I treasure most. Now do it in your own style!

Daddy, words are truly not enough to express how I feel. You've played and still play different roles in my life; Father, Mentor, Pastor, Teacher, Prayer Warrior and most importantly, a Disciplinarian. You have instilled values in me that i still uphold in my family and even teach my siblings. As you turn 70 (you look younger by the way), I pray sincerely that all your heart desires are granted and you will live long to not just reap but enjoy all the fruits of your labour. You've given to humanity in more ways than you know and because you watered you also will be watered and the seeds you planted will grow a bountiful harvest. I LOVE YOU DEEPLY DADDY & MISS YOU & MUMMY. Happy Birthday to you and Your beautiful assistant birthday girl.

Wishing happy birthday; I pray that God continue to preserve you in good health! If I have seen/come this far, it was because I stood on the shoulders of giants, you are that great academic giant and eagle upon whose shoulder and wings of excellence I explored to navigate my ways! I remain eternally grateful to God in heaven for giving me not just a mentor and role model academically, but the spiritual dimension to your mentoring is a top notch! Thank you sir!

Knowing Daddy Charles O. Omekwu has been nothing short of a blessing. It's how we got to know each other in the most rarest form ever. Volunteering to help a total stranger at a very critical phase of my life as a student. The stranger, happens to be me and even since then, it's been guidance, support, mentorship and prayers. Saying thank you for being such a great personality and allowing yourself to be used by God to bless lives can never be enough but regardless, GOD BLESS YOU for all your efforts, Sir. It's going to be more sweetness and bliss from here. Keep being a shining light and a beacon of hope to the younger generation and more. 🙇‍♀️✨ I cherish and appreciate you, Daddy!! 🥰💓

70th Birthday & Valedictory Tribute to My colleague, mentor and supervisor For 26 years I have known and interacted with Professor Omekwu. These years are special and golden times for me. You mentored us on how to write and present academic papers. You pushed us to do what we couldn’t have done on our own. I describe you as a moving train that waits for no one. Those of us that could catch the train are what we are today (professors) You are such a simple and humble teacher. I remember when you taught us Law Librarianship, you extolled my skills in Moys Classification Scheme and made me teach my classmates. As my supervisor, you told me that I will be the one that will delay myself from graduating on time; I defended my dissertation in 2 1/2 years. Your mentorship is eternal, you still encourage us to read law as you did, you constantly connect to us to fill in roles that add to our career. Happy glorious 70th birthday day to you sir. As you retired from active service, I pray for good health of mind and body, more fruitful years ahead to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Prof. Rita John-Okeke

*Birthday Greeting and Prayer @ 70* Happy Birthday to the Man of God and Shepherd of the great flock of God—3 June 2026. This is a day of singular significance. Seventy years is not merely age; it is a crown of glory, evidence of grace, and testimony of faithfulness. You have run well, fought the good fight, and kept the faith for generations to witness. I honour you today as a friend, first-class academic, general in God’s army, disciple-maker, prayer warrior, nation-builder, capacity-builder, mission mobiliser, church planter, strategic thinker, vision caster and carrier of God’s presence. Your achievements and attainments speak volumes: you have distinguished yourself as a librarian, agricultural expert, information technologist, barrister, and professor—all with distinction. Few attain such a pinnacle of success in one lifetime. Without exaggeration, you are truly one in a million. _“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness” — Proverbs 16:31 KJV_ _“Even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you” — Isaiah 46:4 KJV_ My prayer is that the Lord will be your divine refreshmess, fullness, and fortress. _“As thy days, so shall thy strength be” — Deuteronomy 33:25 KJV_ _“Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over” — Psalm 23:5 KJV_ _“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield” — Psalm 5:12 KJV_ May your head never lack anointing. May your strength not fail. May you walk daily in unstoppable favour and divine health. I rejoice with you today and pray that the Lord will grant you peace, longevity, sound health, wisdom, and overflowing blessings as you continue in the service of the Lord. _“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” — Psalm 91:16 KJV_ I celebrate you. The world celebrates you as a winner and overcomer. God bless you abundantly. Dr.. Kunle Ogunkolati and family

Happy Happy 70th Birthday to my Daddy, my Lecturer, my Mentor, my Boss, and my Pastor, the 13th UNN Valedictorian, Professor Charles Obiora Omekwu. You wear 3 crowns with grace: as my *lecturer*, you taught me to think and sharpened my mind. As my *Boss*, you taught me excellence, discipline, and integrity. As my *pastor*, you fed my soul, prayed me through seasons, and pointed me to Christ. Psalm 92:14 says, “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.” Daddy, your life is the definition of that scripture. 70 years of wisdom, impact, and faithfulness. May God renew your strength like the eagle’s [Isaiah 40:31], crown this new decade with health, joy, and peace, and let you see the full harvest of every seed you’ve sown into us. We honor you today and always. Thank you for being a vessel unto honour in every room you enter. We love you, Daddy! 💕💕🌹🌹🎈🎈🎂🎂🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🎁🎁🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🎉🙏

*Happy 70th Birthday, Prof. Charles Omekwu!* 🎉 Today I pause to celebrate a life of rare depth and influence. Seven decades of wisdom, discipline, and grace. As a mentor, you didn’t just teach concepts - you taught character. You showed me how to think critically, act with integrity, and serve beyond myself. Your guidance has been a compass for me to navigate school, career, and life. As a father figure, you’ve carried that same nurturing strength into every room you enter. You corrected with love, encouraged with patience, and believed in me even when I doubted myself. The word “father” means presence, sacrifice, and protection, and you’ve embodied all three for me. And as a teacher, Prof, your impact is generational. The seeds of knowledge you planted years ago are now forests of achievement. Doors opened, minds sharpened, and lives redirected because you took the time to teach, to explain one more time, to expect excellence. “Harvest of Victory” isn’t just a theme - it’s the story of everyone you’ve taught. So today, I honor you with gratitude. I pray for renewed strength, sound health, and joy that overflows. May the next chapter bring you more peace, more laughter, and the deep satisfaction of seeing your legacy multiply. Thank you, Sir, for being a father to me. I celebrate you now, and will keep celebrating you always.
